Disruptions in Starlink due to SpaceX countermeasures were recorded in Ukraine.
Failures in the Starlink satellite system were recorded in Ukraine due to countermeasures introduced by SpaceX to combat Russian drones. This was announced on January 31 by Sergey Beskrestnov, a radio technology specialist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"Many users of the Starlink satellite communication system in Ukraine are already witnessing the first countermeasures that SpaceX took at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. <...> I once again apologize to those who were temporarily affected by the measures taken, but these are very important and necessary actions for the security of the country now," Beskrestnov wrote on the Telegram channel..
According to him, the restrictions are temporary and in the future "will be replaced by a global, thoughtful solution."
The day before, the head of Starlink, Elon Musk, responded to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov, when asked to help solve the problem of using the company's network at the front with the words "you're welcome." Fedorov also thanked Musk for his response and said that the American entrepreneur's help had been "crucial" for Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict.
