The media reported 31 injured police officers as a result of protests in Turin.
A demonstration by radical representatives of the student body and the younger generation, who opposed the closure of a social center in Turin, escalated into clashes with the police, in which at least 31 law enforcement officials were injured. This was reported on January 31 by the ANSA news agency, citing a representative of the governor of the region, Alberto Cirio.
"At the moment, according to preliminary data, more than 31 agents had to seek medical help and medical interventions," he said.
It is emphasized that the rioters specifically waited for the onset of darkness to break through to the social center, which was surrounded by police cordons. Those who decided to unblock the facility were armed with stones and smoke bombs, which they actively used. In response, the police decided to use tear gas and water cannons against the crowd.
About 15 thousand young people, as noted in the text, entering into a confrontation with representatives of law enforcement agencies, threw at them "everything that was at hand," starting from chairs stolen by them and ending with pillars torn out of the ground.
On January 27, Le Monde newspaper reported that five farmers were injured in clashes between protesters over the trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the MERCOSUR trade bloc (MERCOSUR, South American Common Market) with police in Toulouse. It was also noted at the time that six people had been detained as a result of the incident. All those who were detained, as it was emphasized, were involved in "a riot and the use of violence against law enforcement officers."
