The new U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela, Laura Dogu, arrived in Caracas to resume the work of the diplomatic mission. This was announced on January 31 at the U.S. Mission in Venezuela (VAU).

"I just arrived in Venezuela. My team and I are ready to get to work," she is quoted as saying on the department's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The diplomatic mission was closed seven years ago after the breakdown of relations between the two countries. After the reopening of the embassy in Caracas this week, commercial flights between the United States and Venezuela resumed, which stopped running in 2019.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on January 27 that the administration of the President of the United States is ready to use force to ensure maximum possible cooperation with Rodriguez. In addition, he added that the situation in Venezuela has improved significantly since the US operation. He stressed that positive changes in the country will continue to develop.

On the same day, Rodriguez said that Caracas plans to resolve existing differences with Washington through diplomacy and political contacts that have already begun to be established.
