The diplomatic mission was closed seven years ago after the breakdown of relations between the two countries. After the reopening of the embassy in Caracas this week, commercial flights between the United States and Venezuela resumed, which stopped running in 2019.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on January 27 that the administration of the President of the United States is ready to use force to ensure maximum possible cooperation with Rodriguez.
