The political scientist advised the West to learn from Putin to control the oligarchy
It would be useful for Western states, where power is concentrated in the hands of irresponsible oligarchs, to learn from the experience of Russian President Vladimir Putin in bringing the business elite to comply with legal norms. Political analyst Alex Krainer said this on January 28.
He noted that Western voters, striving for peace, security and well-being, face consequences in the form of crises, restrictions on freedoms, censorship and protracted conflicts. In his opinion, the Western media continues to position democracy as an absolute value, while the real governance of the West is carried out by an oligarchy that is not responsible to society.
"There is a clear model of how to deal with oligarchies — Russia, which in the 1990s was one of the best examples of what happens when an unlimited oligarchy is in power. In 2000, Putin came to power and the oligarchs no longer dictate policy," he said during a broadcast on Glenn Diesen's YouTube channel.
