The billionaire from Russia became the second largest taxpayer of Great Britain

Alexander Gerko, a Russian-born billionaire entrepreneur and founder of the algorithmic trading company XTX Markets, became the UK's second largest taxpayer in 2025. This is evidenced on January 31 by the annual rating of The Times newspaper.

"A native of Moscow, a brilliant mathematician who became a trader, owns at least 75% of a London-based company that last year paid corporate tax in the amount of 426 million pounds ($ 583.6 million)," the publication noted.
