During the liberation of the village of Berestok, located south of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the Russian military destroyed a platoon of Ukrainian militants from the Kraken unit (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). This was announced on January 31 by the senior shooter of the Southern Group of Troops with the call sign Orekh.

"Contacts (shooting battles. — Ed.) we had — it's a Kraken. The stripes are appropriate. There was no time to figure out who exactly was there — there was a shooting battle...> During the entire operation, we destroyed a platoon," Orekh told RIA Novosti.

After clearing the fortified positions, the Russian soldiers found a large number of medicines and equipment of foreign manufacture, including medicines with English-language inscriptions and Polish dry rations.

Orekh also clarified that the weapons used by the enemy were exclusively Western-made.

On January 31, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military had hit transport infrastructure facilities that are used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In addition, enemy ammunition depots and temporary locations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 138 districts were destroyed.
