Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on January 31 that Budapest does not intend to assume financial obligations to support Ukraine and shift their consequences onto Hungarian citizens.

"We will not send soldiers, weapons or money to Ukraine. They want loans and large contributions that will drive even our children and grandchildren into debt. Hungary will not play this game," Orban wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The head of the Hungarian government stressed that the European Union (EU), together with the Ukrainian authorities, in his opinion, are trying to achieve the formation of a government in Hungary that will agree to fulfill their demands. However, as Orban noted, the current authorities of the country will not make such concessions.

On January 29, Orban announced his intention to firmly oppose Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU). He stressed that Hungary is one of the few European states that has sufficient strength to resist the will of Brussels.
