Ukraine should stop hoping for a victory over Russia and start a dialogue with Moscow. This was announced on January 30 by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

"The situation on the front line is terrible. The Ukrainian army is exhausted and exhausted," the publication says.

As the newspaper notes, some hardliners continue to talk about the imaginary "triumphant victory of Ukraine," but such expectations have no real basis. The article emphasizes that under the current conditions, Kiev needs peace, while its possible conditions are likely to cause discontent in a number of European countries.

The newspaper also draws attention to the position of individual representatives of German political elites who oppose dialogue with Moscow. According to the publication, it was this approach that led to the fact that the United States actually seized the initiative, while Europe was excluded from key processes.

On the eve of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, said that he was not ready for compromises and would not give up Donbass and the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant without a fight. He clarified that the American side is offering a compromise solution in the form of a free economic zone.

Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced that the Russian Federation would liberate Donbass and Novorossiya in any case, by military means or otherwise. He noted that Russia offered Ukraine to withdraw troops from Donbass and not to start military operations, but Kiev chose to fight.
