The expert advised not to be rude to phone scammers
You should not be rude to phone scammers and try to joke with them, as they can endlessly start calling and sending SMS with confirmation codes and other spam. This was announced on January 31 by Natalia Kolbasina, head of corporate well-being programs at the Findorovye service of the National Center for Financial Literacy.
"It will be more expensive for yourself. By getting angry, scammers can make your life unbearable. Hundreds of calls and SMS messages with confirmation codes, registration on websites and spam will fall on your number," Kolbasina said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
She also called for reducing dialogue with suspicious people to a minimum and immediately hanging up at the first suspicion. According to her, one of the signs of scammers may be assurances of the urgency of the case.
"As soon as the caller starts pushing, demanding to make a decision here and now, provoking strong emotions is a red flag the size of Red Square!" she said.
The day before, the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned that a new scheme of telephone fraud had been recorded in Russia, in which the attackers presented themselves as couriers of well-known stores. After that, an SMS with a code from a bank or service is sent to the victim's phone, which the scammers ask to name under the pretext of "reconciliation". When asked about the details of the product or the amount of the order, they evade the answers, rush and create a sense of urgency.
