The US government has partially suspended work pending approval of funding
The US government has announced a partial suspension of work due to the pending approval of financing projects. This was reported on January 31 by the American newspaper The Herald News.
"On Saturday, the US government partially shut down because the funding deadline expired at midnight, and Congress has not approved the budget for 2026," the article says.
The newspaper writes that the US government may soon continue its work, as it is expected that the House of Representatives (the lower house of Congress — Ed.) intends to approve funding early next week, which was previously supported by the Senate.
It is noted that negotiations on financing were disrupted due to the murder of two protesters in Minneapolis by federal immigration agents.
On the eve of the US Senate, by a majority vote, approved a bill that provides for financing key parts of the federal government and sent the document to the House of Representatives. It is specified that the bill was supported by 71 senators out of 60 required. 29 voted against the bill.
