The UK has recorded a sharp increase in the incidence of tuberculosis in 2025. The British newspaper The Daily Express wrote about this on January 30, citing data from the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA).

"The number of tuberculosis cases has increased over the past few years. In 2025, 5,424 cases of tuberculosis were reported in the UK, which is 25% more than the number of cases reported in 2022," the material says.

At the same time, the largest number of cases was recorded in 2024. At that time, a total of 5,480 cases of infection were detected. It is specified that the largest number of diseases was in the north-east of the United Kingdom.

It is noted that in its modern form, tuberculosis mainly affects only the lungs, causing coughing up blood and weight loss.

The Metro newspaper reported on January 24 that Indian health authorities are fighting an outbreak of the Nipah virus, which has "epidemic potential" and has no vaccine or treatment. According to the publication, five cases of the disease have been identified in the territory of the state.
