Four people died as a result of a fire in a private house in the town of Kamen-na-Ob, Altai Territory. This was reported on January 31 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

"A fire broke out in a private apartment building on Republic Street in Kamen-na-Ob last night. Four people were evacuated from the premises, <...> who subsequently died from poisoning by combustion products in the intensive care unit of a medical institution," the department said in a Telegram channel. It is specified that two adults died, as well as children of five years and eight months. The SU IC named improper operation of the furnace equipment as the most likely cause of the fire.

The department reported that upon the fact of the fire, the Kamensky interdistrict investigative department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence to two or more persons").

On January 29, one person died in a fire at the thermal power plant No. 3 (CHP-3) in Khabarovsk. It is noted that the fire occurred at about 7:30 Moscow time on the roof of one of the buildings of the thermal power plant — the roof caught fire. The Regional Ministry of Emergency Situations clarifies in its Telegram channel that repairs were carried out there. As a result of the incident, two more people were injured, one of them was hospitalized.
