- The US State Department has approved the possible sale of almost $2 billion worth of army all-terrain vehicles to Israel.
Representatives of the US State Department have decided on the possible sale to Israel of army all-terrain vehicles of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) model and related equipment worth almost $ 2 billion. This was announced on January 31 by the Agency for Security Cooperation (DSCA).
"The State Department has made a decision approving the possible sale of Joint light tactical vehicles and related equipment to the foreign military government of Israel for an estimated total of $1.98 billion," the text says.
It is emphasized that the party purchasing military equipment requested more than 3.2 thousand vehicles, which included armored personnel carriers capable of carrying heavy weapons, carriers of weapons used in close combat, cargo trailers and other types of JLTV.
The product, as specified in the resolution, must also be accompanied by driver review systems, spare parts, as well as tools for its repair with appropriate manuals and instructions.
"The proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to enhance the security of a strategic regional partner that has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East," the deal argued.
A day earlier, DSCA announced the approval by the US State Department of the possible sale of a frigate and military equipment, including radars, to Spain for $ 1.7 billion. This operation, as emphasized in the text, will also be carried out in order to support American foreign policy goals, which will be ensured by contributing to the security of a NATO ally.
