The US State Department ordered some of the diplomatic mission's staff to leave Niger for safety

Due to the worsening security threats, the US State Department issued an evacuation order from Niger, according to which, from January 30, all personnel of American government agencies whose presence is not critical for emergency situations, as well as their family members, are required to leave the country. This was announced on January 30 on the official website of the US Embassy in Niger.

"The U.S. Department of State has ordered the departure of United States government employees who are not employed in emergency situations and their family members from the U.S. mission in Niger," the text says.
