The case of the death of a grandmother and grandson in an accident in the Moscow region was brought to court

In the Moscow region, the investigation of a criminal case on an accident has been completed, as a result of which a nine-year-old boy and his grandmother died, and the child's mother was seriously injured. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred on May 23, 2025, on the federal highway M-12 Vostok in the Bogorodsky district. According to the investigation, a 25-year-old resident of the Ulyanovsk region, while driving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus, exceeded the speed limit and lost control.

The minibus crashed into the Lada Largus, which was on the emergency alarm in the middle row. The impact threw the domestic car onto the Audi A6.

A nine-year-old boy and his grandmother, who were in an Audi, died from their injuries at the scene of the accident. The child's mother was seriously injured and was hospitalized, the online publication Podmoskovye Segodnya clarifies.

It was established that the man who drove the Mercedes-Benz had previously been deprived of his driver's license. He is charged under Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person and causing serious harm to human health, committed by a person deprived of the right to drive").

Currently, the investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the materials have been transferred to the Noginsk City Court for consideration on the merits. The maximum sanction of this article provides for up to 15 years in prison.
