The Iranian authorities plan to add the Armed Forces of the European Union (EU) countries to their list of terrorist organizations after these countries recognized the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This was reported on January 30 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the country, Ali Ardashir Larijani.

"Iran plans to declare the armed forces of the European Union countries that have blacklisted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as 'terrorist,'" the publication says.

Larijani noted that European countries will be blamed for the consequences of recognizing the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced on January 29 that the IRGC had been included in the list of terrorist organizations by the European Union. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, in turn, said that this decision was a "strategic mistake."

On the same day, The Times newspaper reported that representatives of the British Ministry of the Interior are currently preparing sanctions against the IRGC. According to the newspaper, if signed, law enforcement officials will have the authority to seize passports from those citizens who, in their opinion, could be associated with the activities of the corps.
