Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been discharged from the hospital after a successful cataract operation in his left eye. This was reported on January 30 by the Reuters news agency, citing a government statement.

"Lula da Silva was discharged from the hospital on Friday after successful cataract surgery on his left eye," the publication says.

According to the agency, the Brazilian leader will resume his usual activities on Monday, February 2.

Bloomberg reported in December 2025 that Lula da Silva's rating was significantly higher than his potential competitors in the presidential elections in 2026. According to the results of the poll, Lula da Silva would have received almost 48% of the vote in the first round.
