Russia's contacts with the United States under the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty (START 3) have not been interrupted, but all the signals and statements have already been made. This was stated on January 30 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko in an interview with reporters.

"We want those fundamental restrictions to be respected, no deadline has been set. If the United States chooses a different path, it will not be a disaster for us, we have our own programs that will be implemented," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He also noted that Moscow is calm about all the statements made by the American side.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on January 26 that Russia's proposal to the United States to extend the START Treaty restrictions for one year after February 5 remains in force. At the same time, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the United States had until February 5 to make a decision on extending the START Treaty.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on January 22 that Russia had not yet received an official response from the United States to Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to extend the treaty. She noted that Moscow has to focus only on the public statements of US President Donald Trump.
