In February, Russians will have an additional holiday weekend due to Defender of the Fatherland Day, which falls on a Monday in 2026.

According to the production calendar for 2026, with a five—day working week in February, 19 of the 28 calendar days will be working, and nine more will be weekends and holidays. There are no shortened working days this month.

The key event will be Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated on Monday, February 23. Formally, the holiday is dedicated to military personnel, but in the public tradition it has long been a day of congratulations for all men — from schoolchildren to veterans.

On this day, it is customary to express gratitude to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and other armed conflicts, active military personnel, police officers, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other law enforcement agencies, as well as conscripts and conscripts preparing for service.

Thanks to this celebration, Russians will have a long weekend from Saturday, February 21, to Monday, February 23, inclusive. After the holidays, a short four-day working week will begin.

In March 2026, out of 31 calendar days, 21 will be working days, and 10 will be weekends and holidays. International Women's Day falls on Sunday, so the day off is postponed to Monday, March 9th.

As a result, Russians will be able to rest for three days in a row — from Saturday, March 7, to Monday, March 9, inclusive, and the next working week will also be four days.
