Spanish police have dismantled a human trafficking network and released 27 women.

The Spanish police have eliminated a criminal organization that was engaged in human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. As a result of the operation, 27 women were released. The relevant information was published on the website of the Spanish National Police on January 29.

"The police investigation began in July 2024 after the National Police's Human Trafficking Assistance Service received an email warning of the presence in Santa Cruz de Tenerife of a couple who allegedly ran four nightclubs and controlled several women," the service said in a press release.

It is specified that there were minors among the released women. During the operation, 14 people were arrested, including two leaders of the criminal network.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported on January 6 that in the Mykolaiv region, a woman and her roommate tried to sell their newborn baby for $10,000. The baby was born on January 1, and the next day the couple handed it over, receiving part of the funds from a fake buyer. They are charged with human trafficking.
