The UK probably will not join a possible US strike on Iran, but will provide military assistance to regional allies in the event of Tehran's retaliatory actions. This was reported on January 29 by The Guardian newspaper.

According to the publication, the first strike on Iran will most likely not comply with the British concept of international law. Consequently, the UK is unlikely to participate in it.

It is noted that the deployment of Typhoon fighters of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in Qatar last week indicates London's readiness to help regional allies.

The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing sources, reported on January 26 that one of the largest and most powerful aircraft carriers of the US Navy, the Abraham Lincoln model, which was stationed in the waters of the Indian Ocean, is ready to attack Iran within one or two days if necessary. It was clarified that this aircraft carrier is accompanied by three other warships, which, in turn, are equipped with Tomahawk missiles.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 29 that military action in the context of the Iranian issue could lead to serious consequences for regional security. He stressed that Moscow considers power scenarios against Iran unacceptable, which could destabilize the situation in the Middle East.

Columnist Jack Buckby wrote in an article for 19FortyFive on the same day that the Russian-made Varshavyanka submarines in service with Iran could pose the main threat to the US Navy's aircraft carrier strike group in the Persian Gulf.
