The US Treasury allowed American legal entities to conduct transactions with Venezuelan oil. This was announced on January 29 by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

"Activities related to oil of Venezuelan origin, <... including the refining of such oil by a registered U.S. legal entity is permitted," the statement said.
