The US State Department has approved the possible sale of a frigate and military equipment, including radars, to Spain for $1.7 billion. This was announced on January 29 by the Agency for Security Cooperation (DSCA) of the US Department of War.

"The State Department has decided to approve the possible sale to the Spanish government of the upgraded F-100 mid—life frigate and related equipment as part of the foreign military sales program," the document says.

The DSCA noted that this deal will support the foreign policy and national security goals of the United States, improving the security of the NATO ally. It is clarified that the American side also undertakes obligations to repair equipment and train personnel.

On December 18, DSCA announced that the US State Department had approved the possible sale of components to NATO for the Stinger missile life extension program in the amount of $136 million. According to the statement, as part of the deal, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands requested additional booster pellets, onboard engines, cartridges for gas generators and sections of Stinger warheads.
