In the city of Izmit in the Turkish province of Kocaeli, a gas tank exploded at a Turkish oil refinery, after which a fire broke out. This was reported on January 29 by the online newspaper T24.

"The smoke that rose after the explosion caused a short-term panic. After the incident, firefighters arrived at the scene. <...> The resulting fire was quickly extinguished," the publication says.

It is reported that, according to preliminary data, no one was injured in the incident at the refinery. Experts are determining the causes of the incident.

On January 29, the Argentine newspaper La Nación reported an explosion at the factory of the cosmetics export company Otowil, which started a fire. It is reported that the fire spread to other houses. According to local residents, the explosion was so strong that it was heard even in the neighboring area.
