Tennis players Rybakina and Sobolenko will play again in the final of the Australian Open

The fifth number of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking, representative of Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina, will play with Belarusian tennis player and world number one Arina Sobolenko in the final of the Australian Open (Australian Open-2026) following the results of the semi-finals of the tournament, which took place on January 29.

The meeting ended with a score 6:3, 7:6 (9:7) in favor of Rybakina, who defeated American Jessica Pegula. It is specified that Sobolenko defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the semifinals of the championship.

The upcoming final will repeat the match of the Australian Open in 2023, in which Sobolenko won the first place.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, which takes place on a hard surface. The competition will end on February 1, and the total prize pool of the tournament is about $75 million.

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the fourth round of the Australian Open 2026 on January 23, winning a strong–willed victory in the third round match. The meeting was held in Melbourne, and as a result of it, the athlete beat Hungarian Fabian Marojan with a score 6:7 (5:7), 4:6, 7:5, 6:0, 6:3.
