Russia will improve the conditions for the development of medium and small businesses to increase the number of mutual investments with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, told about this on January 29.

"The focus will be primarily on creating conditions for the development of medium and small businesses. Because we always talk about major projects, landmark areas, but what can develop faster remains in the background," he said.

He noted that the entry into force of the agreement on a free trade zone for goods and services will increase the number of investments. In addition, he stressed that the withdrawal of the UAE from the list of offshore zones will also affect this.

"The fact that funds will flow to Russia from the Emirates not as from an offshore zone, respectively, from an economy with preferential treatment. In a certain sense, there are benefits there, but at least they will not be directly correlated with the requirements that the Ministry of Finance previously had in relation to the offshore zone," he said.

On January 29, UAE President Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, said that relations between the UAE and Russia are based on the legacy of fruitful cooperation, and they must continue to strengthen. According to him, this is in line with the interests of both countries.

Al Nahyan arrived in Moscow for talks with Putin earlier in the day. He was greeted by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and a guard of honor. The Kremlin clarified that the leaders of the two countries will discuss key areas of cooperation, as well as the situation in the Middle East. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on January 29, the UAE is Russia's main trading partner.
