In 2026, 13 water bodies will be rehabilitated in Moscow.
In 14 years, 179 reservoirs have been put in order in Moscow, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. The plans for 2026 include the rehabilitation of 13 water bodies, including the Bolshoy Molzhaninovsky, Egersky, Michurinsky, and Terekhovsky ponds, the head of Moscow said in the MAX messenger.
The choice of facilities is based on an analysis of their condition and the pace of development of a comfortable urban environment, and the wishes of local residents are also taken into account, the mayor explained. First, specialists clean ponds of sediments and debris, form the bottom and complete or partial repairs of the coastal strips. In the final, bio—plateau zones are created - various aquatic plants are planted in them during the warm season.
In 2025, rehabilitation work was carried out on 19 reservoirs, including ponds in the park of the 50th anniversary of October, Bolshoy and Maly Voroninsky, Verkhny and Nizhny Kuzminsky.
In 2016, work will begin on creating new-format recreation areas by the water, Sobyanin noted. Decking boards on stilts with deck chairs and sun beds will appear in 15 recreational areas in seven districts of Moscow. "Strips of white sand will be made near the water, umbrellas and canopies will be installed to protect from the sun," the mayor wrote.
Earlier it was reported that specialists of the municipal economy complex will rehabilitate Borisovsky Pond in the south of Moscow. The cleanup will take place without draining the reservoir — using a floating dredge, which will preserve the ecosystem.
In September 2025, the rehabilitation of the Bykovo Boloto pond was completed in Zelenograd. Specialists of the municipal management complex cleared the 0.9 ha reservoir of silt, repaired the construction of the coastal strips, and also formed bio-plateau zones.
