The Ministry of Transport did not rule out flight schedule adjustments due to snowfall in Moscow

Due to heavy snowfall at Moscow airports, schedule adjustments and flight cancellations are possible. This was announced on January 29 by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.

"Heavy snowfall continues. Bad weather can affect the operation of air transport. Adjustments to the flight schedule for both arrival and departure, flight cancellations are possible," the Telegram channel said.

The agency added that on January 29, Moscow Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports handled 344 flights. Two departures were canceled, and two more flights were delayed by more than two hours.

It is specified that the airfield services are operating in an enhanced mode, 19 control cleanings of runways were carried out overnight. The ministry stressed that the situation at airports is under special control of the Ministry of Transport, Rosaviation and Rostransnadzor.

On the morning of January 27 in Moscow, traffic jams reached nine points due to snowfall. The Hydrometeorological Center predicted heavy snow, snow drifts and icy conditions on this day. Public utilities eliminate the effects of bad weather. The press service of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the capital urged motorists to abandon trips by private transport on January 27 and 28 due to heavy snowfall.

Earlier in the day, the press service of Pobeda Airlines announced the delay of flight services and the transfer of services to an enhanced mode of operation due to snowfall in the capital. Airline representatives urged customers to travel to the airport in advance, taking into account the situation that could potentially develop on the roads due to bad weather. They also urged passengers to monitor the status of their flights.

Later it became known that Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports are operating normally, all flights are operated according to schedule.
