On January 29, a former soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who surrendered and joined the Martin Pushkar volunteer unit, spoke about the punishment from the Ukrainian command for refusing to kill an elderly civilian.

"I saw a civilian, a grandfather, he's about 70 years old. <...> i was told to shoot him. I said I wouldn't do it. I was punished. For a week, they said, "you will stay in position even longer," said a volunteer with the call sign Pooh TASS.

According to him, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered to shoot at all civilians.
