The vacation scheduled for February may become unprofitable, since this short month also includes a public holiday on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day. This was announced on January 29 by Yulia Finogenova, Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"In 2026, there are only 19 working days in February (since there are three days off from the 21st to the 23rd), and the month itself is short (28 days)," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The agency's interlocutor explained that with a salary of 80 thousand rubles, a citizen will receive a little more than 4.2 thousand rubles for one working day and only 2.7 thousand rubles for a vacation. Thus illustrating the difference in pay, she advised those who were employed to go on vacation in other months.
RANEPA expert Tatiana Podolskaya said a day earlier that in 2026 Russians will have five four-day and one three-day working weeks. One of the periods during which the five-day working week will be shortened by one day will be, as she recalled, the last week of February.
