The media reported traffic problems on Spanish roads due to snow
Traffic disruptions have occurred in central and northern Spain due to the successive passage of two storms, Joseph and Christine. This was reported on January 28 by RTVE TV and radio company with reference to the state Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
According to the publication, the estimated height of the snow cover will be 600-700 mm. Aemet has also issued a special warning regarding the forecast of snowfall.
It is specified that 102 roads were blocked due to the snowfall, three of which are located in the main network of the country. The downpour caused traffic difficulties at various levels on as many as 160 roads. In Madrid, the A-6 motorway was virtually impassable in some sections for several hours.
The SIC Noticias TV channel reported on January 28 that at least five people died as a result of Storm Christine in Portugal. It is specified that the city of Leiria, in which three people died, became the most affected by the storm.
