The expert spoke about a new fraudulent scheme with the blocking of pensions

Fraudsters began sending messages to Russians about blocking pensions on behalf of a Social or Pension Fund in order to force them to go to phishing sites in order to steal victims' money. The expert of the Popular Front project told about it on January 29. Galaktion Kucava Analytics.

"A pensioner receives a message allegedly from the Social or Pension Fund of Russia. It is important to remember here that the Pension Fund as a separate structure has not existed since 2023, and any letters on its behalf are fake. The message contains a false statement about the blocking of pensions," the expert explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Kuchava, the purpose of the scammers is to cause panic in the recipient of the message and encourage him to click on a link to a phishing site that copies the interface of Gosuslug. On this site, the victim is asked to enter their personal data, including passport data, SNILS, INN, and, most dangerously, SMS codes. This way, the attackers gain access to the victim's personal account.

At the second stage, as the expert explained, the attackers can contact the victim again, introduce themselves as employees of the bank, Rosfinmonitoring, FSB or other government agencies, and report a hack of the personal account or an unauthorized loan. After that, the victim will be offered to transfer the savings to a supposedly "secure" account, which, in fact, is under their control.

Dmitry Dudkov, chief specialist at F6 for countering financial fraud, reported on January 28 that fraudsters began creating fake accounts of management companies to deceive citizens under the pretext of "updating the list of tenants" and "confirming the relevance of information." According to the expert, scammers use the FakeBoss scheme, in the first stage of which they send the user a code via SMS message or a link to a Telegram bot under the guise of an official service.
