On Wednesday, January 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Elena Shmeleva, Head of the Talent and Success Foundation, Chairman of the Council of the Sirius Federal Territory, the expansion of interstate cooperation.
The issue was raised during a conversation about a new comprehensive strategic cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Russian side, as Shmeleva emphasized, is currently engaged in the creation of the Sirius International school and the talent center in Alma Ata. According to her, the Government of the republic itself, as well as the Ministry of Education and the Akimat are also involved in this process.
"We will only increase cooperation and create programs. <...> Kazakhstan is our closest ally, and our relations are strategic, so Kazakhstan is the first in the post–Soviet space to create a full—scale model of the Sirius educational center and an international school in order to work with the talents of the entire republic," she is quoted as saying. as part of the report, in the material published on the Kremlin's website.
Putin, in turn, congratulated the Sirius team on their endeavor and called the work done "very good." He stressed that in Kazakhstan, just like in Russia, there are many talented children who will later contribute to the development of the countries.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that the Russian president regularly monitors the development of Sirius. Putin, who performed in the concert hall of the training center on October 3 of the same year, called the territory where it is located "the city of the future."
