Britain stated the need for the United States to eliminate the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine

The White House, which previously presented its vision of a solution to the conflict in Ukraine in which Kiev needs to cede territory in exchange for American security guarantees, needs to focus on eliminating the root causes of what is happening. This was reported on January 28 in the British online magazine UnHerd.

"The Trump administration must focus on the root cause of the conflict. <...> American negotiators will need a new strategy to end the current conflict that stops putting territory at the center of peace negotiations and focuses on security," the text says.

The publication noted that by making such an "important reorientation", Washington will be able to demonstrate the approach of peace.

How did Putin's negotiations with American emissaries end?

Political analyst Alexander Asafov, speaking to Izvestia on the same day, said that the format of possible security guarantees offered by the West for Ukraine remains unclear. The expert clarified that this issue requires detailed study, as it is important not only for Kiev, but also for Moscow.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump once again stated that a settlement of the situation in Ukraine was close, and on January 28, the day the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Abu Dhabi started, he expressed confidence that he would be able to resolve the conflict.
