Russia attaches special importance to the Holocaust Memorial Day. This was stated on January 28 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with Chief Rabbi Berl Lazar and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities Alexander Boroda.

According to him, it is no coincidence that the day of the victims of the Holocaust coincided with the day of commemoration of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad.
