The case of deforestation for 4.7 million rubles was initiated in the Magadan region

A criminal case has been opened in the Magadan Region on illegal logging of forest stands in excess of 4.7 million rubles. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

Illegal logging was detected in the Tenkinsky municipal district. According to the supervisory authority, from June to October 2024, the subsurface user illegally cut down forest plantations on an area of 6.9 hectares.

The amount of damage exceeded 4.7 million rubles, says IA MagadanMedia. Based on the materials of the inspection conducted by the environmental prosecutor's office, a criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal logging of forest plantations committed on an especially large scale").

The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.

In November last year, Alexey Abramov, head of the Department for Supervision and Use of forests for logging at the Federal Forestry Agency, told Izvestia that in the three quarters of 2025, the volume of illegal logging amounted to 222.8 thousand cubic meters, and in the same period of 2024 - 313.4 thousand cubic meters. Throughout, 4,6 thousand facts of illegal logging were revealed.
