Annual inflation in Russia decreased to 6.4%
Annual inflation in Russia dropped to 6.43% from 6.46% a week earlier. This was reported on January 28 on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development (MAYOR) "On the current price situation."
According to the agency, from January 20 to January 26, 2026, inflation was 0.19% week to week, which is significantly lower than in previous periods — 0.45% from January 13 to January 19 and 1.26% from January 1 to January 12, which were the New Year holidays.
During the reporting week, the price growth for fruit and vegetable products slowed to 2.0%. At the same time, pork, chicken meat and butter fell in price, as well as certain non-food products, including smartphones and vacuum cleaners.
On January 27, the State Duma announced the indexation of social benefits by 6.8% from February 2026. The increase will amount to 6.8%, which corresponds to the actual price increase over the previous year.
