A week before the beginning of Great Lent, the Orthodox Church celebrates Myasopust Parents' Saturday, one of the special days of commemoration of the deceased. In 2026, it falls on February 14th. This is one of the two Universal Parental Saturdays of the year. On this day, it is customary to pray not only for one's relatives, but also for all deceased Christians. In this way, the church takes care of the souls of people who, for one reason or another, are deprived of commemoration. Izvestia has prepared postcards and touching words of remembrance that can be shared with loved ones on messengers and social networks.

"So the Ecumenical Meat and Desert Sabbath has arrived. May today's sadness be as bright as a clear February day. Remember not illness and decay, but the strength, wisdom and warmth of your parents. And may your soul be at peace."

Be happy in your earthly life and may the Lord protect you."

"Happy Universal Saturday! May your tears today, if they come, be not only from sadness, but also from gratitude. Thanks for the priceless gift of being someone's child, grandson, or great-grandson. No one will take away this gift, it is with you forever. And in it there is a source of light for the further path. Peace to your heart!"

"Happy Meat and Cabbage Saturday. On the day of universal commemoration, it is easy to feel like a small part of a huge whole — the Church, the family, and history. Hold on to him and may God protect you!"

That the confusion would subside, and the pain of loss would turn into a bright sadness, giving strength to move forward. May the memory of the deceased become for you a source of spiritual fortitude and faith. Happy Myasopust Parents' Saturday!"

"Happy Parents' Day! On this Saturday, the soul seeks reconciliation — with loss, with fate, with itself. May prayer and remembrance help you find this reconciliation. Not as oblivion, but as acceptance and gratitude for every moment given to you by your loved ones. And may this gratitude be your consolation."

"Parents' Saturday is a day when the past gently touches the present. May this touch be gentle and healing. Remember what your father taught you and what your mother sang to you. Let their lessons guide you today, and your life will be a worthy continuation of their path."

Earlier, Izvestia told when Maslenitsa and Easter will be celebrated in Russia.
