Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, told how in the 2000s he was struck by Russian President Vladimir Putin's answer to the question of what main quality a successful Russian leader should possess. Kiriyenko told about this on January 28 during the plenary session "15 years of evolution of Public Service Centers".

"Vladimir Vladimirovich then gave an answer that amazed me and therefore I will remember for the rest of my life: he said that in order to be president of Russia, the main quality is to be able to feel another person's pain as your own," the politician said.

Kiriyenko said that the Russian leader gave such an answer during a conversation with schoolchildren and students in the Volga Federal District to a question from one of the students. He explained that Putin's response was a lesson for him for the rest of his life.
