Official representatives in Russia were not invited to an event in the Bundestag dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army. This was announced on January 28 at the Russian Embassy in Germany.

"The organizers [of the event] again did not consider it necessary to invite official representatives of Russia to take part in it. Let it remain on their conscience," the embassy said in a message on its Telegram channel.

The diplomatic mission recalled that the annual funeral meetings in the Bundestag were tamed for the liberation of the Nazi camp in Auschwitz by soldiers of the Red Army. According to the diplomats, "many European countries are deliberately trying to forget" this fact.

The embassy also recalled that more than 40% of the victims of the Holocaust were residents of the Soviet Union.

Earlier, Andrei Ordash, Charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Poland, said on January 19 that Poland had also not invited representatives of the Russian embassy to events marking the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Auschwitz. He added that despite this, Russia will continue to preserve the memory of the victims of the Nazi camps and the exploits of the Soviet soldiers who liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau in Auschwitz.

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will never forget the crimes of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, which was liberated by the Red Army. The President also noted that Russia honors the feat of Soviet soldiers who fought against the Nazis and worked in the rear for the benefit of the Great Victory.
