A criminal case has been opened in Moscow against officials of the Central Directorate of Infrastructure of Russian Railways (RZD) for systematically accepting bribes from car repair companies. This was reported on January 28 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.
"At the moment, the investigation has established that the suspects received bribes totaling at least 19 million rubles through intermediaries, and at least 52 persons were involved in the activities of the criminal group," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
According to investigators, from June 2020 to January 2026, the suspects provided car repair companies with excessive uptime and concealed the facts of substandard repairs for a fee. It is noted that intermediaries were involved in the criminal scheme, who kept in touch with the heads of enterprises from more than 40 regions of the country.
Depending on the role of each individual, they are suspected of committing a number of crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe as part of an organized group on an especially large scale").
Earlier, on January 23, Oleg Atamanyuk, head of the Department for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations (Civil Defense and Emergency Situations) of the Syktyvkar administration, as well as three representatives of commercial enterprises, were detained by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Komi Republic. The investigation found that in the period 2022-2023, the head of the Syktyvkar Civil Defense and Emergency Department received a large-scale bribe in cash from representatives of commercial organizations.
