- Fraudsters lured 700 thousand rubles from an elderly Lipchanka under the threat of "criminal charges"
In Lipetsk, a 68-year-old woman contacted the police, who said that fraudsters had lured 700 thousand rubles from her. They threatened the pensioner with criminal liability for allegedly financing banned organizations.
According to GOROD48, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Lipetsk region, the woman transferred money to a "secure account" through an ATM so that those who contacted her would release her from this responsibility.
Earlier, on January 28, it was reported that the attackers began to pose as landlords when making phone calls to residents of apartment buildings in Russia and extort personal data from them under the pretext of a power outage. During the conversation, the scammers warn that the house will be de-energized in the near future, and promise to drop an official notification in the mailbox. To do this, they ask the apartment owner to confirm their personal information.
