Cosmetologist warned about infections when self-squeezing pimples
Acne, or acne, remains one of the most common dermatological problems, especially in adolescence and young adulthood. According to experts, the vast majority of people experience rashes between the ages of 12 and 24. At the same time, attempts to cope with acne on their own often lead to serious complications. Sofia Belash, a dermatologist and trichologist at SM-Cosmetology, told Izvestia about this on January 29.
"Acne can manifest itself in different ways, from blackheads and superficial inflammations to deep painful nodules that often leave behind scars. In addition to physical discomfort, the disease often affects the psychological state: rashes on exposed skin areas can reduce self-confidence, cause anxiety and difficulty communicating. At the same time, the severity of emotional experiences does not always depend on the severity of acne — even single elements can cause serious stress," Belash noted.
The specialist emphasized that self-removal of inflammation remains one of the most common mistakes. The extrusion of blackheads injures the skin, breaks its protective barrier and creates conditions for the penetration of bacteria into the deep layers. As a result, the risk of infection, increased inflammation and the appearance of new lesions increases. In addition, it is impossible to ensure sterility at home, which further increases the likelihood of complications.
"Another common consequence of such an intervention is the formation of scars and persistent pigmentation. Dark spots and irregularities can persist for months or even years, requiring long and expensive treatment," the doctor warned.
The cosmetologist noted that a professional approach allows not only to safely remove acne elements, but also to prevent their reappearance. The arsenal of specialists includes mechanical cleaning, chemical peels, hardware techniques and drugs to control sebum production and inflammation. Individually selected therapy helps to achieve sustainable results and maintain skin health without the risk of complications.
On November 30, cosmetologist Anastasia Shibaeva and experts from the Golden Apple told Izvestia about skin hydration during the heated season. According to experts, dryness worsens the appearance of fine wrinkles and exacerbates chronic dermatoses, including eczema, atopic dermatitis and acne. It was clarified that basic home care with gentle cleansing without aggressive surfactants should be established for care. The experts named foams and cream gels as preferred.
