A sudden transition from cold to hot food or drinks can negatively affect the condition of tooth enamel. Pavel Lysenkov, a dental therapist and periodontist at SM-Dentistry, warned about this in an interview with Izvestia on January 28.

According to him, drinking hot tea or coffee immediately after staying in the cold or outdoors is a particularly bad habit.

"At low temperatures, the enamel and dentin cool down. If high temperature affects the teeth at this moment, a sharp temperature drop occurs, which causes microcracks to form on the enamel. Over time, such injuries cause increased tooth sensitivity and increase the risk of caries," Lysenkov warned.

In addition, according to him, when exposed to cold, blood circulation in the tissues of the teeth decreases, and a sharp increase in temperature creates an additional burden. People with already thinned enamel or gum problems are especially vulnerable in this situation.

The dentist noted that after returning from the street, it is better to give the teeth time to adapt to room temperature. The best option is to wait 15-20 minutes before drinking hot drinks. Alternatively, you can drink drinks at room temperature.

"Following this simple recommendation helps to maintain the integrity of the enamel and reduce the risk of dental problems in winter," the specialist emphasized.

Earlier, on January 18, maxillofacial surgeon, founder of the Estetus clinic, Candidate of Medical Sciences Sevak Barseghyan told Izvestia that traditional dental implantation, associated with multi-stage treatment and waiting for implants to take root for up to a year, is becoming a thing of the past. Modern approaches make it possible to radically reduce the duration of rehabilitation, returning the patient to a full life in just a few days.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
