Sollers postponed the launch date of a new Russian SUV
The launch of mass production of the Sollers S9 SUV at the site of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) is scheduled for late August-early September. This was stated by Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Sollers Adil Shirinov, TASS reports.
In July last year, Sollers representatives announced that they planned to complete the development of a new SUV at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2025 and hold a presentation of the production-ready model during the same period. Prior to that, in March, the company announced that it intended to launch a new SUV in early 2026.
It is known that the Sollers SUV is based on the Chinese JAC T9 pickup truck. In turn, an all-wheel drive Sollers ST9 pickup truck is already being produced at its base at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. Sales of the latter started in early October last year. In November, Sollers showed a video from the tests of the pre-production model of the novelty.
On January 27, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region, Alexey Russian, announced that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant plans to carry out a large-scale modernization of the enterprise in the next two years. In the next two years, Sollers plans to invest more than 12 billion rubles in the development of UAZ.
