The attackers began to introduce themselves as landlords when making phone calls to residents of apartment buildings in Russia and extort personal data from them under the pretext of a power outage, RIA Novosti reported on January 29.

It is clarified that during the conversation, the scammers warn that the house will be de-energized in the near future, and promise to drop an official notification in the mailbox. To do this, they ask the apartment owner to confirm their personal information.
