Associate Professor Balynin spoke about the changes in the alimony payment system from March 1

Starting in the spring of 2026, the amount of alimony will be calculated in a new way. Starting from March 1, the amount required for payment will be determined based not on the minimum wage, but on the average salary for a specific subject of the Russian Federation. This was announced on Wednesday, January 29, by Igor Balynin, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Finance at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"By itself, the procedure for calculating alimony does not change. It is their accounting that is adjusted when assigning a single allowance. If the applicant is divorced and there is no court decision or court order to collect alimony, then they will be included in the family income in a proportion of the established amount when assessing the need for a single benefit," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
