The expert called the consequences of not showing up for work due to flight delays
Skipping work due to a delayed flight may be considered absenteeism if the employee did not inform the employer in advance about the problem and did not provide the necessary evidence. This was announced on January 28 by the expert of the Presidential Academy (RANEPA) Tatiana Podolskaya.
"The toughest sanction is recognition of absence as absenteeism, for which a reprimand or remark can be announced, part of the salary for the day of absence is withheld," Podolskaya emphasized in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to her, for absenteeism without warning, the employer has the right to reprimand or remark an employee, as well as withhold part of the salary. Podolskaya noted that as proof of the flight delay, the employee should present a certificate from the airport or a screenshot from the airline's website.
Alexey Bezyukov, Chief Technical Labor Inspector of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), said on January 15 that employees have the right not to come to work during snowstorms, fires and earthquakes, having previously notified the employer. He noted that an employee can confirm the presence of unfavorable weather or a dangerous situation on the street with information from meteorological services, city road or transport organizations, as well as publications in the media.
