The Savyolovsky District Court of Moscow has banned the placement of housing rental ads that indicate a preference for tenants of a certain nationality. This was announced on January 27 by the court's press service.

According to the agency, an offer for an apartment appeared on one of the websites and in the Telegram channel for renting housing in Moscow, in which preference was given to "tenants of Slavic nationality." The court ruled that the ad contained information of a discriminatory nature.

"By a court decision, information posted at Internet addresses on these network resources was declared prohibited for distribution in the Russian Federation," RIA Novosti quoted the press service as saying.

On January 25, Boris Chernyshov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, proposed developing a mechanism for targeted subsidization of rental housing costs for student families with children. According to him, the lack of affordable housing puts student families in front of a choice — to abandon their studies or bear an unbearable financial burden, which negatively affects the academic performance of parents and the well-being of children.
