On January 27, US President Donald Trump commented on the appearance of French leader Emmanuel Macron at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"What was the story with his glasses the other day? What the hell was that?", — said Trump, delivering a speech in Iowa.

It is specified that due to a burst vessel in his eye, the French president appeared at the forum wearing dark glasses. Trump also asked about the appearance at the event, but did not receive a response from Macron.

Macron spoke to the military on January 15 with a burst blood vessel in his eye. The event was held in the French city of Istres. He apologized for his unsightly appearance, but added that nothing serious had happened to him.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also ridiculed the French president for his glasses, appearing on a comedy show in London wearing aviator sunglasses. During the event, he told the presenter that he would consider wearing glasses at summits.
